In Greek, charis (χάρις) literally means grace, favor, kindness, or gratitude. It describes a warm, good, or loving disposition toward someone, often shown through a free and unearned gift or blessing.
At Charis Counseling, we seek to create a compassionate and grace-filled environment for all who pursue support and healing through counseling.

Hi, I’m Linda, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the heart behind Charis Counseling. I’ve had the privilege of calling New York, Florida, Nebraska, and Arizona home, and each place has shaped who I am and how I serve others.
I’m trained in EMDR, PCIT, Theraplay, TF-CBT, and CBT, and I have experience working with children, adults, couples, families, foster care and child-welfare-involved families, trauma, sexual abuse, and clients who desire faith-based counseling.
And then there’s Maverick, my therapy dog! 🐾 He’s part of the Charis Counseling family and may be there to greet you during in-person sessions.
At the heart of my approach is grace. I’m all about grace because I’ve received so much of it—and, honestly, I definitely don’t deserve it. I believe therapy should be a place where people can feel seen, heard, valued, and accepted while working toward healing and growth.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside people in some of the hardest seasons of their lives and to remind them that there is hope, healing, and grace along the way. 🤍

My name is Maverick and I am a four year old Golden Retriever. I am a certified therapy dog but sometimes I need my own therapy. I have an extensive collection of stuffies and enjoy chasing tennis balls and napping on the couch. I love meeting new people.
Charis Counseling provides a safe, supportive, and age-appropriate environment where children can express their feelings, develop healthy coping skills, and build emotional resilience. Counseling may address anxiety, trauma, behavioral concerns, grief, family changes, and other challenges. Depending on the child's needs, therapeutic approaches may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) techniques. Care is individualized to help children process difficult experiences, develop effective coping skills, and strengthen their emotional and relational well-being.
Charis Counseling provides a compassionate, supportive environment where adults can address life’s challenges, work through past or present experiences, and develop greater emotional well-being. Counseling may support individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, stress, or other concerns. Treatment is individualized and may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-informed approaches, and other evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Our goal is to help adults develop healthy coping skills, gain greater self-understanding, process difficult experiences, and move toward meaningful and lasting change.
Healthy relationships require communication, trust, understanding, and intentional effort. Charis Counseling provides a supportive environment where couples can work through conflict, improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and navigate challenging seasons together. CBT and other evidence-informed therapeutic techniques may be incorporated to help couples identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier communication skills, and create meaningful changes within their relationship. Treatment is individualized to meet the unique needs and goals of each couple.
Charis Counseling provides trauma-informed, compassionate care for children and families involved with the foster care and child welfare systems. We understand the unique challenges that can accompany abuse, neglect, placement changes, reunification, adoption, disrupted relationships, and court involvement. Counseling may incorporate Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) techniques, based on the individual needs of the child and family.
With extensive experience working with court-involved children and families, Charis Counseling understands the importance of collaboration with caregivers, caseworkers, attorneys, schools, multidisciplinary teams, and other professionals involved in a child's care. Services are designed to support emotional healing, strengthen relationships, develop healthy coping skills, and help children and families navigate complex child welfare circumstances while maintaining a focus on safety, stability, and the child's best interests.
At Charis Counseling, we recognize that faith can be an important part of a person's healing and growth. Christian counseling provides an opportunity to integrate Christian faith and biblical principles into the therapeutic process while addressing emotional, relational, and life challenges. Evidence-based approaches such as CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, and other therapeutic techniques may be integrated with a client's faith and values when appropriate. Our goal is to provide a compassionate, grace-filled environment where individuals can address life's challenges, pursue emotional and spiritual growth, and draw upon their faith as a source of hope and strength.
